My Name is Justin Veals.

I am a writer and a musician from Knoxville, TN. It is a medium-sized city in the southern United States. Knoxville is home to the University of Tennessee. The football team plays their home games at Neyland Stadium, which is only 7000 seats away from being the largest stadium in all of college football. Needless to say, college football is a way of life for a majority of Knoxvillians. However, it is not for me.

I have lived here my whole life, but I wish to one day move to a big city like Atlanta or New York. My reason for this wish is the fact that I would love to live in a city that offers more opportunities for a writer to find work.

There are things about living in the South that despise: racism and the way that others treat me because I am an atheist for starters. In spite of these things, I do enjoy living here. There is something to be said of Southern hospitality. On the whole, people are very friendly and would give you the shirts of their backs. The stereotypes do exist, but luckily there are not the majority.

I consider myself a progressive liberal – not many of us here in the South. I do not judge others based on their religious beliefs, but I am unfortunately judged for my lack of them. I do see promise in the growing acceptance of people with similar beliefs, but our country still has a long way to go in this respect. One day, I hope that I will no longer be considered amoral because I do not believe in the existence of God.

I will be blogging on many different subjects here: movie and music reviews, my favorite TV shows, book reviews, and my random thoughts on the subjects that I care about. Also, I will be posting some serial fiction starting with The Night Episodes, an apocalyptic horror story.
